Millar Chiropractic Clinics - Services
Millar Chiropractic Clinics offer several services that can be used to create individual treatment plans that address each person's needs. All of the services offered by the chiropractors at our clinics can be used on their own or in conjunction with others to elicit a healing response within the body. Our chiropractors offer preventive treatment options as well as diagnostic techniques that can be used to identify illnesses, diseases, and injuries. We strive to get to the root cause of your pain and treat that root cause not just the symptoms.
At Millar Chiropractic Clinics your treatment will be divided into 4 distinct stages:
- Relief Stage: This is where we get you substantially or completely out of pain.
- Corrective Stage: Once out of pain we can start correcting the problem to the limits of your body. This may be at the site of the pain or problem or completely away from the problem. As an example, non-painful foot problems can cause pelvis and low back pain and problems.
- Rehabilitative Stage: Once we correct the problem to the limits of your body then we can strengthen the muscles and increase endurance such that the problem will not return.
- Whole Body Compensation: The vast majority of the time if you injure one part of the body another part overcompensates. The body then continues that overcompensation after the problem is fixed as the overcompensation became normal to the body. We have to fix that overcompensation or the overcompensation becomes your next problem,
“To the best of our ability, we agree to provide our patients convenient, affordable, and mainstream Chiropractic care. We will not use unnecessary long-term treatment plans and/or therapies.”
Back in 2016, the Doctors of Millar Chiropractic Clinics took the ChiroTrust Pledge. With its almost 5000 Doctor of Chiropractic members ChiroTrust doctors are dedicated to provide conservative, mainstream chiropractic care services without sales pressure and unnecessary treatments or therapies, or excessive cost for the patient. They make and accept referrals from medical doctors and hospitals and pledge to work with a patient's medical team. ChiroTrust members don't believe in pre-selling year long care plans that patients don't need just to produce more income for the doctor. Dr. Millar went on to say, "We don't sell cookie cutter packages, where everyone gets the same number of visits. ChiroTrust® doctors recommend what YOU need as an individual for your specific problem. If YOU need 2 visits or 20 visits, that's what you need and that's what you get at all Millar Chiropractic Clinics. We also believe that all chiropractic care services has a start date and an end date so patients are not asked to come for LIFE."
Superb Chiropractic Treatments
Millar Chiropractic Clinics has always prided itself on delivering on the promise of great chiropractic care. From it's beginning in 1998 till today the chiropractors of Millar Chiropractic Clinics first and foremost utilize chiropractic care in the treatment of your problems and conditions. Chiropractic techniques are like tools in a doctor's toolbox. If all you have is a hammer then every problem is a nail and needs hammering. But if you have many tools then you can use the right tool or technique for that particular patient or need. All of our doctors do both manual and instrument adjusting so if you prefer one over the other just let your Millar Chiropractor know.
We have been honored to have been nominated and received the Best of Madison, Chiropractor and Best of Huntsville, Chiropractor awards numerous times over the years. In fact we've won the award for three years running in both Madison and Huntsville. Then Dr, Millar himself has gone on to be awarded the Best Chiropractor in Huntsville Award several times. Dr. Millar is fond of saying, "if the only tool in your toolbox is a hammer then you treat nails. But if you have many tools in your toolbox you can treat many things." The Chiropractor of Millar Chiropractic Clinics utilize many chiropractic techniques both manual and instrument assisted to deliver "Superb Chiropractic Treatments."

Personal Injury/Auto Accident
Our staff at Millar Chiropractic Clinics offers personal injury evaluations for patients who have been involved in auto accidents, slip and fall accidents, or any other type of mishap that results in an injury. Treatment options are available that will start the healing process and get you back on the road to recovery in a very short period of time. Injuries that are the result of an accident may not show any signs or symptoms within the first 24 hours. Seeking chiropractic care immediately after the accident occurs may help to relieve some of the pain and discomfort you feel.
Laser therapy is an extremely effective treatment option for both pain and inflammation. Every Millar Chiropractic Clinics office is equipped with the latest in laser therapy equipment. Thomas Edison postulated that certain wavelengths of light affect the body in different ways. This therapy is often a "game changer" for patients in the treatment of acute pain and inflammation. It can be used along the spine, it can be used on muscles or joints (large or small). It's wonderful to have a tool that can elevate pain in just a few visits, without drugs or surgery. Its great for musculoskeletal disorders, for carpal and cubital tunnel issues, and many other conditions that affect the hands, feet, joints, and muscles. Laser therapy offers a non-invasive way to treat common injuries without the use of more invasive procedures.
Non-Surgical Decompression Traction therapy involves the use of a computerized decompression traction table that gently pulls on the body causing a negative disc pressure (like a vacuum) in the spine and gently pulls the disc back into a more normal position. We utilize the FDA approved DTS non-surgical decompression system. We have treated over 5000 of your friends and neighbors with a success rate of just over 80%. We utilize decompression traction to treat bulged and herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, degenerative facet disease, stenosis and many more. Decompression therapy, when used in conjunction with chiropractic care and other treatments can provide long-lasting relief to individuals who suffer from a variety of musculoskeletal issues associated with the spine. When performed on a regular basis, decompression therapy can help restore natural balance to the spine and the muscles that support it.

Shockwave Therapy (PulseWave Shockwave Therapy)
PulseWave Shockwave Therapy or Shockwave Therapy (Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy) is an extremely effective treatment option for Chronic Pain and chronic problems. Shockwave Therapy causes irritation and inflammation to the tissues thereby increasing blood flow and healing. Since it can cause tissue damage, the doctor using shockwave therapy must have the experience to treat without creating too much or even permeant tissue damage.
The term shockwave refers to acoustic pressure wave or pulses that come from the PulseWave Shockwave hand-held piece (sabre) and expand as a wave into the body. The easiest way to think of the energy created by a Shockwave machine is to imagine a Jacuzzi, as the bubbles are generated outside of the body, the energy of the jets is focused on a certain area of the body and the effect can be felt below the surface of your skin. The stronger the jet, the deeper the effect. Our PulseWave Shockwave machine works in a similar way. A wave of energy is created and delivered to the body through a hand-held PulseWave Shockwave sabre. Like the jet of a Jacuzzi, the PulseWave Shockwave hand-piece (sabre) can deliver a narrow wave or a wider wave depending upon the sabre treatment head selected by the doctor. The doctor can also chose the depth of penetration of the wave by selecting the power in megajoules (bat). Our PulseWave goes to 8 Bat which allows for very deep treatment. Finally the doctor can select and control the frequency so the treatment is less painful.
More recently, the debate is focusing on something called ‘Cavitation’. There are thousands of Cavitation bubbles generated behind the PulseWave Shockwave acoustic pressure wave. The bubbles act as empty cavities created behind an acoustic energy wave. These bubbles, just like in the Jacuzzi example, expand and then burst. When they burst they cause irritation and increased blood flow within the tissue. When the bubble bursts helps break down the tissue and, at times, even deposits of calcium (bone spurs). The Shockwave machine is responsible for creating the force wave at the power setting chosen by the doctor. It is also the doctor's responsibility to aim and direct the force to ensure the bubbles burst at the right point. Again, like a Jacuzzi, more energy can be more effective, but it can also be more uncomfortable so treatments are often a balance between these two conflicting elements. The good news for you, the patient, is the doctor can tailor the treatment to your individual condition and comfort level.

Millar Facet/Stenosis Tables
We realized that many or our patients were presenting with Facet Pain caused by Degenerative Facet Disease, Facet Syndrome, or Facet Arthropathy. We also had many patient presenting with similar symptoms from stenosis. Dr Millar went on to say, "I can't tell you how many times patients have come in with a MRI showing a bulging disc with no compression of the cord or nerves and still in pain. These patients were being treated for the wrong problem. The problem wasn't the disc it was the facets or the stenosis."
The symptoms of Facet Pain include:
- Need to lean over the buggy when going shopping
- Able to walk just a short distance before your back aches
- Constantly looking for a place to sit down or something to lean against for just a minute till your back stops hurting.
- Back Pain that wakes you up in the mornings
- Back Pan that is worse when you first put your feet on the floor in the morning
- Back Pain that is often relieved or make better with a hot shower or bath
To address this problem, Dr Millar worked with Dr Hill of Hill Laboratories. What they came up with was a Hill Flexion/Distraction table with a customized McKensey extension built into the table. Now that's a mouthful so we decided to call it the "Millar Facet/Stenosis Table" then Dr Millar wrote the Millar Facet Protocol for treatment of Facet problems and the Millar Stenosis Protocol for the treatment of Stenosis. All of our Doctors are trained on the Millar Facet/Stenosis Table to help treat your Back Pain.
Dry Needling is a very successful therapy utilizing acupuncture needles. The needle tip does not simply taper to a point like a pencil, but has a rounded profile (traditionally likened to a pine cone). This is proven to less traumatic hence less painful – pushing tissue fibers apart rather cutting them. An important characteristic of acupuncture needles is that their small diameter (typically less than 300 µm) allows a unique form of interaction to occur between the needle and the tissue (Langevin et al. 2001a). A thin monofilament needle penetrates the skin and treats underlying muscular trigger points for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. Dry needling is focused on stimulation on the muscles to get them to release. Acupuncture, on the other hand is based on channel theory and using points to heal the body. Dry Needling is a technique certified practitioners use to treat pain and movement impairments. The doctor inserts a "dry" needle, one without medication or injection, into areas of the muscle. Dr. Millar is Certified in Dry Needling.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization Therapy
Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is a technique we often use to treat injured muscles and movement problems. IASTM works like a standard massage, but specialized instruments are used in place of a therapist's hands. These instruments allow more direct treatment of the soft tissues involved with pain, adhesions and movement. Soft tissue mobilization is a manual therapy treatment where the doctor applies a variety of pressures and stretches to the muscles and fascia. This can improve blood flow, reduce swelling, reduce pain, and improve mobility and muscle function. IASTM) instruments, while enhancing the clinician's ability to detect fascial adhesions and restrictions, have been clinically proven to achieve quicker and better outcomes in treating both acute and chronic conditions, including:
Achilles Tendinitis/osis (ankle pain)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (wrist pain)
Cervical Sprain/Strain (neck pain)
Lateral Epicondylitis/osis (tennis elbow)
Lumbar Sprain/Strain (back pain)
Medial Epicondylitis/osis (golfer's elbow)
Patellofemoral Disorders (knee pain)
Plantar Fascitis/osis (foot pain)
Rotator Cuff Tendinitis/osis (shoulder pain)
Upper and Lower Cross Syndromes
Dr. Millar who is Certified in IASTM along with his CCEP, Certified Chiropractic Extremities Practitioner says IASTM is just another tool in the toolbox to treat both acute and chronic joint and musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Millar went on to say, "I often use IASTM along with other treatments to get great results."
