Again the important factor here in the Duke study was the root cause. The root cause being cervico or neck and genic or beginning. So headaches that begin in the neck are effectively treated with chiropractic says Duke University.
Now is where the fun begins. We catalogue 15-16 different root causes of headaches and migraines. Some are what we call primary headaches and migraines like tension headaches or cluster headaches and some are secondary headaches and migraines like hormonal or hangover headaches. In other words a headache that has it root cause in something else. Now it's going to get really complicated as the third category of headaches and migraines is combination headaches and migraines including both primary and secondary root causes. Often patients tell us that their migraine started with a ______ headache. Where you fill in the blank for cause and overtime it escalated into a migraine. That's not to say that some migraines start all on their own without first having a more common headache.
