PHASE I: 13 Weeks
Each Week for the next 13 weeks we will make
“My Buddy Diet – DREAM” lifestyle changes.
Week 1
Activity: Pick an activity that you and your buddy or spouse can do together. This is not only for weight loss but for couple or buddy fun and relaxation. We will eventually have two age appropriate activities, one for fun and one for sport.
- Ideas for fun activities – walking together, dancing, camping, boating and sailing, horseback riding, doing things with friends, roller or ice skating, pool and billiards, volunteer together for a charity, cook together, go shopping at yard sales or antiquing together, miniature golf, and go on a picnic for that matter just go and get off the couch, go, go, go and do together.
- Ideas for sports activities – bowling, golf and golf driving ranges, tennis, hiking, running and jogging, biking, swimming, white water rafting, football, soccer, basketball, softball, paintball, batting cages, rock climbing and any other sport you can think of to do together.
Week 2
Activity: Take action steps on implementing the fun activity you and your Buddy or spouse chose together. Again this needs to be something that your both interested in or it won't work long term.
- Find out were you can do your activity.
- Don't forget municipal recreation departments.
- Don't forget college or university activities or departments.
- Google or Yahoo search the activity in your area.
- Get on the phone and start talking to local business or people involved in your activity.
- Find out where groups meet that do your activity.
- Just get off the couch and go go go.
Week 3
Activity: Go Do Your Activity.
- If you need special equipment for your activity - go get it.
- Go do your activity. Even if this week all you can do is watch. Go get out of the house.
- If you don't like something about the activity, place or people...try other places or other activities.
- Talk about your activity with your buddy.
- Get agreement that this is something you both can do together.
- Commit to 6 months of your activity, win loose or draw.
Week 4
Activity: Doing Your Activity.
- Go do your activity this week. Participate
- Meet at least one other couple doing your new activity. Invite them out for coffee or lunch.
- Ask your new couple friends about the activity. Get more information.
- Ask your new couple friends to introduce you to at least one other couple or group.
