Chiropractor Dr. Greg Millar has battled his weight all his life. Now he has decided to win that battle, and he is not doing it alone. His wife, and his weight loss buddy, Tracy, will join him this year on the Bodies in Motion: Get Fit & Healthy program. Tracy said, “Greg, If you commit to losing weight and getting fit, so will I.” The Millar's don’t want YOU to fight it alone either. Please join them on their program to Get Fit & Healthy! by:

Dr. Millar being a Doctor himself knew he needed professional help and treatment to be safe to start such a program. He first went to talk to his Chiropractor, Dr. Sean Wallis, about overseeing his weight loss program. Next Dr. Millar went to his Medical Doctor, Mike Hennigan, MD at the Decatur Diabetes and Lipid Center for blood work an EKG and a referral to the Cardiologist for a Stress test. Dr. Millar stated that “when starting a new workout program, get your Medical Professionals to clear you for that program.”
Dr. Sean Wallis of Millar Chiropractic & Nutrition Center -Jones Valley told the Millars "I am proud of both of you for making the decision to get fit. Your off to a good start. We believe in order to get fit, you need to set realistic goals. Before you set your goals you need to: D R E A M. that stands for Diet, Rest, Exercise, Activity, Mental State.
Dr. Wallis went on to say "The "D" in DREAM stands for Diet. Diet is any thing you eat. So if you eat all cheeseburgers then your diet is cheeseburgers. You don’t go on a diet you change your lifestyle eating habits. "R" stands for Rest or sleep. Are you getting enough good sleep? If not, talk to your Millar Chiropractor about natural sleep aids and ideas. "E" stands for Exercise. Exercise is just that working out. The Millar's have a goal of exercise three times per week with cardio and weight training. We will talk much more about that later. "A" stands for Activity - What age appropriate activity are you going to take up. Walking, dancing, tennis, golf - things you can do together that get you off the couch. The Millar have chosen ball room dancing as their buddy activity. And finally "M" stands for Mental State. Attitude, fears and frustrations. How to handle the ups and down of weight loss".
Dr. Wallis of Millar Chiropractic Huntsville (Jones Valley) laid out the following program for the Millar's on their WAAY to Get Fit. All "My Buddy Diet" patients have the following:
- Complete a Weight Loss Health History & Assessment.
- Complete a Vitality Assessment. Real Age Assessment.
- Complete a Range of Motion Study and Muscle Test.
- Complete a Body Mass Index with Weight and Body Fat Percentages.
- Complete a Food Allergy Blood Test.
Dr Wallis stated that at Millar Chiropractic, patients on the "My buddy Diet" fall into one of three patient categories:
- Category 1: Those patients that were in good health and only wanted to lose a few pounds. We call those Cat 1. Their weight loss and fitness program is managed only by our Chiropractors. We recommend that these patients tell their primary care MD that they are on a weight loss program; but, we do weekly weigh in and program. Up to 50 pounds overweight.
- Category 2: These patients that have some health problems such as non-insulin dependent diabetes, mild asthma, mildly high or controlled blood pressure with no past history of cardiac problems. These patients see our chiropractors and our sister company's, Millar MultiMedical, MD's and together the MD's and the Chiropractors co-manage the diet and fitness program. Up to 100 lbs overweight.
- Category 3: These patients have health problems, Heart problems, CHF, Asthma, Diabetes, Cancers now in remission, High Blood Pressure, and Morbid Obesity. These patients can be up to 200 pounds overweight. They are managed by the MD's of Millar MultiMedical until they lose to or become a Category 2.
Dr Greg is a "My Buddy Diet" Category 2 while Tracy his wife is a Category 1. Under the "My Buddy Diet" Dr. Greg and Tracy are actually on different food programs. Dr. Sean Wallis put Dr. Greg on the Glycemic Load diet while he put Tracy on the modified South Beach diet. Dr. Millar and his wife Tracy have now signed the "My Buddy Diet" contract.
