Chiropractic Care

We provide advanced spinal correction utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic has chiropractic been able to provide the level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more researched, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. Our Doctors of Chiropractic, have years of training and experience in spinal adjustment. All of our Doctors of Chiropractic have passed all four parts of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners test. Additionally, all of our Doctors of Chiropractic then took and passed the rigorous Alabama State Board of Chiropractic Examiners test. Finally, all of our Doctors of Chiropractic then trained under Dr. Greg Millar, Chiropractic Physician. From Dr Millar, they learned additional diagnosis techniques. Dr Millar is fond of saying "If you can't find the problem you can't fix the problem." He believes that you "leave NO stone unturned", when trying to find what is really causing the pain or problem.

Like Dr. Millar, all our Doctors use Manual and Activator instrument adjusting. We utilize Activator, Thompson Drop Table, CBP, ART, Cox Flexion/Distraction, Diversified, SOT, and many other chiropractic adjusting techniques. Our Doctors like to say "we have many adjusting tools in our toolbox. We try to use the one that will give you the patient the fastest, safest, and most thorough treatment."   

DTS - Decompression Traction

For the Non Surgical Treatment of neck and low back bulging, herniated, and prolapsed disc problems, the DTS - Decompression Traction System - has been shown to be very effective. Decompression traction is just that. It decompresses the disc or desired spinal structure . While staying fully clothed, the computer controlled traction gently pulls the disc apart with long axis distraction thereby creating a negative interdiscal pressure (like a vacuum). In many cases, this pulls the disc off the thecal sac or nerve root and/or helps to lower inflammation and pain. 

This FDA approved equipment has been used by Millar Chiropractic Clinics for over 10 years helping over five thousand North Alabama and Tennessee Valley patients with disc problems and other conditions. You may have seen Dr Millar demonstrate this table and it's treatments on WAAY TV Channel 31 MEDCALL or BACKTALK shows. The DTS - Decompression Traction System can also be used for the treatment of stenosis, degenerative facet problems and even carpal tunnel. Dr Greg Millar has often said "any chiropractor can purchase a traction table but at Millar Chiropractic, we have the know how and years of experience with this system to know where to pull and how much to pull the spine. The UAB Dept of Neurosurgery and it's neurosurgeons have referred Millar Chiropractic many patients for conservative treatment of disc cases using this equipment. The DTS is often in the front line along with chiropractic care and physical therapy in the conservative non surgical treatment of disc cases. The good news is that DTS Decompression Traction is covered by most insurance.

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Lifestyle Advice

We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each our patient is a whole person, and help them reach true health and wellness is a collaborate effort between our professionals and our patients.

As an example: A patient with moderate progressive degenerative disc disease in the spine. If left untreated, we know that the patient will get worse over time. As disc degenerate they often bulge or worse herniate. By utilizing conservative chiropractic care and exercise we often can slow and sometimes even stop the progression of the degenerative disc disease.  

Nutritional Counseling
